La espiral quebrada ("The fractured/broken spiral") is dedicated to Wilfrido Terrazas.
It was premiered by Wilfrido on May 7, 2007 at the Americas Society in New York city.

In La espiral quebrada the flute is treated both as a sound producing instrument and as a sound diffuser. Eight microphones are arranged along the flute, each pointing at one and only one key/hole. Each microphone is sent to one of eight speakers placed around the audience. As a key is lifter and a hole opened, the sound is directed towards a particular speaker.
